10 DAYS ALONE WITH YOURSELF

“In Vipassana remember: often the moments will come when you will be trown in here and now so totally that for the first time you will become aware who you are. Vipassana is one of the most profound methods” Osho

Osho Vipassana Retreat combines traditional Vipassana sittings with Osho Active Meditations. This retreat is specifically designed for our fast-paced 21st Century lifestyle, in which we are so often emotionally and psychologically absent, living with hopes and desires for the future or regrets about the past that we completely miss this moment. A retreat presents us with an opportunity to take a step towards being with ourselves without any distractions and to find out what moves us, what pushes our buttons, where our thoughts are taking us…. The retreat structure, the silence, the sittings, the active meditations, the food and the group energy will all help in this adventure.

The retreat structure.

Each day of the retreat starts with Osho Dynamic Meditation. After breakfast there are a few sessions of sitting and walking meditation. After our lunch and rest we will continue with a few sessions of silent sitting, followed by Osho Kundalini and Satsang. The day will finish with a relaxation session, conductive for restful sleep. The sound of the gong will indicate the start and finish of our sitting and walking sessions. The sound of bells will call us back to the meditation room after our meals or rest. It is important to be alert to these sounds and forget all about looking at the clock for a few days. Follow the sound of the bells. Allow yourself to be gadget-free: no mobile phone, internet, music, books or notebooks. Turn your attention inwards.

Silence

A period of conscious silence can give back meaning and weight to the words we say. So there will be silence for the duration of the retreat. This also means keeping our eyes lowered, looking only about five feet ahead, thus avoiding eye contact. It is recommended that no reading or writing be done during the retreat – this is just another way of escaping into our imagination, missing this moment again. Also notice how automatic our social niceties have become – the desire to greet, or to thank, or to apologize…. For any questions or practical matters there will be time and space to talk to the facilitator.

Food.

The lighter the food, the deeper the meditation goes. All food on the retreat is vegetarian, deliciously prepared and most of it organic. There are three meals a day with a tea break in the afternoon. No sugar, no sweets, no coffee is allowed.

Osho about Vipassana

“Vipassana is such a simple thing that even a small child can do it. In fact, the smallest child can do it better than you, because he is not yet filled with the garbage of the mind; he is still clean and innocent…. Vipassana can be done in three ways - you can choose which one suits you the best. The first is: awareness of your actions, your body, your mind, your heart. Walking, you should walk with awareness. Moving your hand, you should move with awareness, knowing perfectly that you are moving the hand. You can move it without any consciousness, like a mechanical thing. You are on a morning walk; you can go on walking without being aware of your feet. Be alert of the movements of your body. While eating, be alert of the movements that are needed for eating. Taking a shower, be alert of the coolness that is coming to you, the water falling on you and the tremendous joy of it.... Just be alert. It should not go on happening in an unconscious state. And the same about your mind: whatever thought passes on the screen of your mind, just be a watcher. Whatever emotion passes on the screen of your heart, just remain a witness ¯ don't get involved, don't get identified, don't evaluate what is good, what is bad; that is not part of your meditation. Your meditation has to be choiceless awareness. The second form is breathing, becoming aware of breathing. As the breath goes in, your belly starts rising up, and as the breath goes out, your belly starts settling down again. So the second method is to be aware of the belly, its rising and falling. Just the very awareness of the belly rising and falling ... And the belly is very close to the life sources because the child is joined with the mother's life through the navel. Behind the navel is his life's source. So when the belly rises up, it is really the life energy, the spring of life that is rising up and falling down with each breath. As you become more aware of the belly, the mind becomes silent, the heart becomes silent, the moods disappear. And the third is to be aware of the breath at the entrance, when the breath goes in through your nostrils. Feel it at that extreme ¯ the other polarity from the belly ¯ feel it from the nose. The breath going in gives a certain coolness to your nostrils. Then the breath going out ... breath going in, breath going out.... These are the three forms. Any one will do. And if you want to do two forms together, you can do two forms together; then the effort will become more intense. If you want to do all three forms together, you can do all three forms together. Then the process will be quicker. But it all depends on you, whatever feels easy. Remember: easy is right. As meditation becomes settled, mind silent, the ego will disappear. You will be there, but there will be no feeling of "I." Then the doors are open. Just wait with a loving longing, with a welcome in the heart for that great moment, the greatest moment in anybody's life ¯ enlightenment.” Osho

It looks like, in the modern world we are missing the clear understanding of who are we, what do we need, where are we going, how our system is working. The life which can be pure joy becoming a problem, mainly due to lack of clear understanding/ vision of what is happening inside. I found that the body is the most convenniet istrument for me for selfexploration purposes. I'm working with the body in different ways but the most favourite one is contact improvisation. This form is luckely combines different apporaches which are wellcoming to open, relax, meet yourself, take the energy from the mind into the body, explore this space of here and now and yourself in this space. Contact Improvisation is unique tool for whose who have some childish innocent courage to take a look inside.."
